Divine Health or Divine Healing. Which? 640 445 Keir Tayler

Those who pray for the sick will verify this:

That almost half of the people in the prayer line are suffering not from organic diseases, but from nervous conditions, neurosis, oppression, depression, fears, complexes, etc. Everywhere people are pleading for help and deliverance. Just getting them in the prayer line is not the answer. For many of these people there must be a re-orientation of their thinking and attitude toward deliverance. For, “as a man thinketh, so is he.”

This article is given for those who are suffering from various kinds of nervous conditions.

1. Divine Health rather than Divine Healing is for the believer.

It is a mistake for the Christian to always be seeking healing for one thing or another. Healing for the body and soul is for the penitent sinner. On the other hand, Divine health is God’s will for obedient child of God, as expressed in, 3Jn2 “beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers”. God’s will is prosperity for the body and the soul. To solve the problem of sickness which plagues many Christians, it is necessary is to first make clear that repeated healing’s are by the nature of the case, not God’s best for them. Repeated healing’s mean repeated sickness.

2. Divine health for the body related to divine health for the soul:

As John’s letter say’s – prosperity in body will in relation to prosperity in the soul. Failure to attend corporate meetings, to pray, cooperate in God’s work can make the promise of non-effect. One cannot become slack and careless in spiritual life. You are a target of the enemy. 1Peter 5:8 “Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” Be in the very presence of God by doing Ps 91:1-6 – “…dwells in the secret place of the Most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty,…” So if you have no shadow – you have no profile – only His and you cannot be found by the prowler.

3.   Let your faith for Divine health be founded on the word of God:

Faith is simply believing what God has said. What we do is the only proof of what we know, and so the only proof of what we know is what we do. faith acts as possessing what it does not feel. If one does not know what the bible promises are, how can they believe for Divine health? True – this subject is rarely preached on. For a start look – up: Exod 15:26; Exod 23:25; Deut 7:15. In view of these promises, the Christian is bound to believe that there is such a thing as Divine Health, whether he appropriates it or not.

 4.   Take the place of dominion that God intended you to have:

In the garden of Eden, man was made in the image of God and therefore free from sickness. Through sin man lost his dominion. But what man lost in Adam, he regained in Christ. Therefore instead of being a beaten whipped creature, the believer should rise up and take dominion that God originally intended him to have and which Christ has regained for him on Calvary. he – Jesus destroyed the power of sin and sickness. Mark 2:9

 5.   Recognize sickness as a curse:

Traditionalism teaches that sickness is a blessing by which God teaches His people certain lessons. We do know that some people do learn under the stroke of a lash. But that is not the Lord’s plan for His obedient children. In scriptures sickness is referred to as a curse Deut 28. On the other hand Divine healing and health are blessings. To say that God has changed His mind and that sickness now is a blessing and healing is a curse, is not only mischievous but also wicked. If this be so, why do you go to a doctor – you would be disobeying God.

 6.   Be anxious for nothing:

Bible says, “the curse causeless shall not come” Prov 26:2  These neuroses and nervous conditions do not happen without cause. They come often as a result of fears, anxieties and frustrations. Gnawing emotions can cause a person to have severe physical reactions. You cannot have fear and faith. Job received sickness as a result of fear.           Job 3:25-26 “For the thing which I greatly fear comes upon me, and that of which I am afraid befalls me. I was not or am not at ease, nor had I or have I rest, nor was I or am I quiet, yet trouble came and still comes [upon me].” The cure for all these is simple: Phil 4:6

 7.   Confess Faith:

The sick person will not rise higher than his confession. Faith is extended to the promise believed. The man at the pool of Bethesda sat there for 38 years waiting for:

  • an angel, (“man of God”).
  • for a stirring (of the waters) or some supernatural move of the spirit and
  • for another man – who never came to help him….so he was stuck in a moment.

He kept saying, “I’ve got to have a miracle!!” Yet the answer is in your mouth – in your heart if you would believe.

So take dominion over your situation and declare the will of the Great Healer, Keep your eyes on the word, upon His promises, and not upon the symptoms.
