WEAPON of WORD. 1000 756 Keir Tayler

Basics are essential for survival: no matter how specialised we become. In the military you can become a Special Forces Operator and yet if you neglect the basics – you may come home hurt, or not at all.

4 essentials in a successful Christian Soldier:

  • Seize, what you need to change.
  • Clean-up, the mess and establish control.
  • Hold, you position by endorsing or occupying your victory.
  • Build, into yourself and others.

Let the Word do the teaching, training and equipping.

Prov 4:20 My son, pay attention to all the words I am telling you. Lean in closer so you may hear all I say.
Keep them before you; meditate on them; set them safely in your heart.
For those who discover them, they are life. They bring wholeness and healing to their bodies.
Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.
Prov 15:4 (Darby) – Gentleness of tongue is a tree of life; but crookedness therein is a breaking of the spirit.
(Voice Bible) –  A word of encouragement heals the one who receives it, but a deceitful word breaks the spirit.

Prov 12:18 Thoughtless words cut deeply like a thrusting sword, but the speech of the wise is a healing balm.

Rm 10:9-10 (VB) But what does it actually say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith we have been called to preach to you).  So if you believe deep in your heart that God raised Jesus from the pit of death and if you voice your allegiance by confessing the truth that “Jesus is Lord,” then you will be saved! Belief begins in the heart and leads to a life that’s right with God; confession departs from our lips and brings eternal salvation.
(For with the heart is believed to righteousness; and with the mouth confession made to salvation.) Because what Isaiah said was true: “The one who trusts in Him will not be disgraced.”

(MSG) The word that saves is right here, as near as the tongue in your mouth,
as close as the heart in your chest. It’s the word of faith that welcomes God to go to work and set things right for us. This is the core of our preaching. Say the welcoming word to God—“Jesus is my Master”—embracing, body and soul, God’s work of doing in us what he did in raising Jesus from the dead. That’s it. You’re not “doing” anything; you’re simply calling out to God, trusting him to do it for you. That’s salvation. With your whole being you embrace God setting things right, and then you say it, right out loud: “God has set everything right between him and me!”
11-13 Scripture reassures us, “No one who trusts God like this—heart and soul—will ever regret it.” It’s exactly the same no matter what a person’s religious background may be: the same God for all of us, acting the same incredibly generous way to everyone who calls out for help. “Everyone who calls, ‘Help, God!’ gets help.”
Ps 64:3 (VB) Who sharpen their tongues into swords, who take aim with poisonous words like arrows.
Prov 21:23 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
(MSG) Using their tongues as weapons, flinging poison words, poison-tipped arrow-words. They shoot from ambush, shoot without warning, not caring who they hit.

Prov 18:21 (KJV) Using their tongues as weapons, flinging poison words, poison-tipped arrow-words. They shoot from ambush, shoot without warning, not caring who they hit.
MSG Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose

Job 33:2 (VB) Behold, now I have opened my mouth, my tongue hath spoken in my mouth.
(AMP) Behold, here I am with open mouth; here is my tongue talking.

Ja 1:26 If anyone thinks himself to be religious (piously observant of the external duties of his faith) and does not bridle his tongue but deludes his own heart, (Real religion, the kind that passes muster before God the Father), this person’s religious service is worthless (futile, barren).

A bit in the mouth of a horse controls the whole horse. A small rudder on a huge ship in the hands of a skilled captain sets a course in the face of the strongest winds. A word out of your mouth may seem of no account, but it can accomplish nearly anything—or destroy it!  It only takes a spark, remember, to set off a forest fire. A careless or wrongly placed word out of your mouth can do that. By our speech we can ruin the world, turn harmony to chaos, throw mud on a reputation, send the whole world up in smoke and go up in smoke with it, smoke right from the pit of hell.

Eccl 8:3-5  Don’t be in a hurry to leave the king’s presence or throw your support behind a bad cause, because the king can do whatever he wishes.  Since the king has the power to enforce his word, the word of a king is supreme; who dares ask him, “What are you doing?” Whoever does what the king commands; keeps a royal command; will stay out of trouble, and the wise heart will figure out the proper time and proper way to proceed.  No one can master the wind and contain it—it blows as it will. No one has power over the day of death—it comes as it will. No soldier is discharged in the heat of battle, and certainly wickedness will not release those entangled in it.
