I had the great privilege of being a student under both W. V Grant and David Nunn’s teachings at Christ for the Nations Bible Institute in Dallas Texas 1980 – 1982. Both were very involved with the Voice of Healing explosion in the 1947-1958 that swept the USA.

I thought to pick out some vital points that – David Nunn highlighted in an interview:

Question: ‘Why do some of  your meetings seem unpredictable?’

Answer: ‘Well sometimes I pray for sick first before preaching … I follow what Holy Spirit wants to do. Or sometimes the anointing is so ‘heavy’ in a meeting that He pours out as He wills, or I sense it is time for a call to salvation … the key is following what Holy Spirit is doing and not our, or  the church’s agenda.’ He went on to explain … ‘I have certain nights designated for Worship; Healing; Miracles; Signs & Wonder; Mission; Word; Faith; Deliverance; and Giving nights. On these evenings the theme is addressed specifically. This does two main things – people come already expectant and second you are taking the church somewhere in faith. It is not routine but planned growth in word and faith – for them. Jesus set an atmosphere of a ‘wondering whats going to happen next’. Church cannot be same old each meeting’.

Question: ‘I see you pray for certain people and not others – why?’

Answer: The secret of getting what God has is to ‘get into God’s Spirit’. For example the woman with issue of blood was the only one in the crowd that got anything from Jesus. Why? It is because she ‘got in’ while others were there but not pushing in. See Zacharia 4:6 (AMP) says: ‘Then he said to me, “This [continuous supply of oil] is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel [prince of Judah], saying, ‘Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit [of whom the oil is a symbol],’ says the Lord of hosts.’ The might – or could we say is psychology our trying to work it out; and power – being our education or our understanding. But neither help but by the Spirit of God. So I watch what He is doing in some people and go to the ones I see who are in the Spirit. Healing comes when one is in His presence. The woman was in His presence by proof of her touch so she got what she came for. The others only looked on and wished they had. So God directs me to those who have come and got into God’s spirit, God expects them to do that before He directs me to them.’ Some are just not ready (faith level) or participating with Him.
