Position, Authority & Power 2 150 150 Keir Tayler

Jesus said flesh and blood will not build the church. Mans opinion, education, position, church politics and traditions of man will not do it. It is done by revelation of who He Jesus as shown in Mt 16:14

My 16:18 also mention KEYS of the Kingdom will be given. That is authority. A key has power over a door and gate. It opens and closes it. Keys and doors work together. The bigger the key the bigger the door the greater the authority. The key only works in a lock. That is its position which then releases its ability or authority to open or close.

The word church in this passage is described as follows:
Mt 16:18 ‘church’ – ekklesia. In the KJV bible it is used x 115 times and word church x 2.
Ekklesia means: gathering of those summoned.
In Greek the word means: an assembly of citizens in a city or state.
The ‘ecclesia’ of a city in Greek or Roman times was a city council, made up of land owners, citizens and those who had a minimum of 3yrs military experience.
It is a “A spiritual governing council of a city.”
They would make governing decisions for the city, like permit or prevent certain kinds of behavior. It would permit/loose and prohibited /bind; certain values and laws.
They would actually meet at the gates/doors of the city.

This ecclesisa would be under the authority of the King. Not by flesh and blood standards. This would include – party politics – nepotism – votes – bribery and corruption etc.

Mark 2:1-10 Jesus demonstrated this authority in a meeting at home where His roof was broken through so that four men let down a parlaytic on a stretcher. Jesus turned to the man and told him his sins were forgiven. He was sick yet He told him his sins were forgiven. The residing church leaders were highly upset by what he had said and mumbled among themselves about the issue. Jesus knew what they were saying and said v 9 ‘Which is easier, to say to the paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven’; or to say, ‘Get up, and pick up your pallet and walk’? But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—He said to the paralyzed man,  “I say to you, get up, pick up your pallet, and go home.”

Notice the words ‘authority’ and ‘I say to you’.

The man believed what Jesus said and did what He was told to and was healed. Bind and loose. At a gate of sin and sickness or salvation and life. The keys was used to unlock freedom of the oppressed. Flesh and blood did not understand this yet Jesus by revelation of whose He is and waht He was sent to do demonstrated another kingdom.

Ac 10:38 “You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”

The pressure of His presence is the greatest force that can be exerted upon a human being.
