Arena of Life

Imagine a Roman Gladiator arena with crowds looking expectantly for the next hero of battle to enter. Everyone is not sure who, what, when it would happen. It was the next event. Could it be more exciting than the previous one they just dragged out.
Then unexpectantly and innocently a 14 year old girl enters the blood stained arena. Young Mary was looking about as if in search of someone. Across the arena an old pregnant woman Elizabeth, enters the dusty atmosphere and she looked intently at Mary. The crowd is absolutely stunned at the spectacle. They all go silent as they gaze – shocked at the spectacle before them. Some begin to boo and laugh and even shout taunts at the women. The crowd felt humiliated.

‘When the sound of your greeting …’

Mary stops in her tracks and shouts excitedly to Elizabeth. “Elizabeth blessed are you, Gabriel told me about you!” echoes from Mary’s lips like a trumpet into the silence. The atmosphere in the arena suddenly changed. It was electric. The crowd were galvanised in their seats. What is this?
Elizabeth stops mid-stride and shook as the power of Holy Spirit came upon her. There was something divine in this moment. Neither the two women fully understood what was actually happening. The awareness of the spectators around the arena seemed to fade away from the two women in the moment of this encounter.

Short passage from upcoming book – “Royal Warrior”.
